ADAS Information
You Need To Know
What is ADAS?
ADAS stands for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems. These systems are designed with the goal to alert the driver of collisions or other events in order to keep them safe while on the road. ADAS uses various types of cameras, sensors and other electronic systems that are seemlessly integrated into your vehicle.
Examples of ADAS
New innovations in safety alerts and early warning systems are developed with nearly every new vehicle release. There are many different examples of ADAS, some of which include:
- Forward Collision Detection
- Rain Sensors
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning Systems
- Pedestrian Detection
Why Do I Need Recalibration Services?

Vehicle manufacturers requires ADAS recalibration should the system ever be significantly moved or compromised such as in the case of a collision or the replacement of a windshield. Formerly, the act of recalibrating cameras and sensors that make up your vehicle's ADAS would require a visit to a dealership. When you choose Clayton's Auto Glass to replace your windshield, we have the technology to also recalibrate your windshield's cameras back to original manufacturer's specifications.
The different types of windshield camera calibration
Static Calibration

Static recalibration must be performed while the vehicle is stationary and requires the use of special equipment such as a CSC (Camera and Sensor Calibration) Tool and target images set up outside of the vehicle. This type of recalibration can be performed either in-shop or on-location.
Dynamic Calibration

Dynamic recalibration, also sometimes referred as Mobile Calibration, is performed while the vehicle is being driven. Special hand held units are plugged directly into the vehicle to test, monitor and recalibrate the ADAS settings.
